In response to feedback that St. Mary’s University graduates need stronger preparation in writing, the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) partnered with the Community for Teaching and Learning to develop a university-wide, 6-part workshop for faculty. The series focuses on best practices in interdisciplinary research and creative, critical arguments written in a linguistic register appropriate to the audience, skills applicable to a broad range of future career paths.
We will have six workshops on the following topics as well as a follow-up meeting, to be held Fall 2023. The first 5 sessions will be from 3:30-5:00 in the Moody Life Sciences Center Rm 102:
1. Phased Writing and the Writing Process Part 1: Process -Date: 2/13/2023
2. Phased Writing and the Writing Process Part 2: Peer Workshopping -Date: 2/20/2023
3. Developing Assessment Tools -Date: 3/20/2023
4. Teaching Writing to Heritage Speakers/ Teaching Equitably -Date: 4/24/2023
5. Technical Writing -Date: 5/1/2023
