Join us for lunch and a photography exhibit as we celebrate National First-Generation Day at St. Mary’s University.
Nov. 8 is the day the Higher Education Act of 1965 was signed into law, which ushered in initiatives and programs to level the playing field that had been weighted against under-represented and low-income students. It also created the federal TRiO programs critical to first-generation students’ college success.
The photo exhibit features St. Mary’s first-generation students, faculty and staff who have submitted photos that capture their first-gen experience. Remarks will be given by Tim Bessler, Ed.D., Dean of Students, and Nicole Lopez, Ph.D, Visiting Assistant Professor of English.
